URUBAMBA RAFTING 2 DAYS

We have to consider two options for this tour. During the raining season this section become one of the best tours for white water rafting in the Urubamba River, the rapids goes from level II to IV with constant waves and holes making of this tour unforgettable. During the dry season this section is good for very beginners, but still has a little touch of adventure. We definitely recommend do this trip during the raining season from mid of December to March.

  • Departure: 8 am.
  • Return: 4 pm.
  • Trip grading: II to III and IV and V during raining season (end of December to March)
  • Time per day in the river: two to five hours approx.
  • Season: All year, but we recommend during mid December to March

Itinerary

DAY 1 CUSCO-CHECACUPE-CHUQUICAHUANA

Departure at 8 am. passengers will be collected from their hotels. We drive for about 1 hour and 45 minutes until we arrive to a beautiful Andean town called Checacupe which will be the beginning of our trip. We are going to have a safety briefing about commands and safety instructions followed by practice in the river. The first hour in the river is calm, with nice rapids level II ideal to practice the commands and safety instructions. After a good lunch the river becomes a little more aggressive, with constant class III and III+ rapids, until we arrive to our first camp.

DAY 2 CHUQUICAHUANA-QUIQUIJANA-CUSCO

For most of our clients this day is the best. After a good and energetic breakfast, we will start  running the river for one hour with class II and III rapids, after a couple more rapids, we will be in the middle of the canyon call Chuiquicahuana, which is consider the most difficult and excited section from our trip, long and constant rapids with nice waves and holes that goes from level III to IV are part of this adventure.  Two hours after this nice section, we will enter into another canyon, this is mostly class III and III+ rapids with nice standing waves but still good fun. After these exciting rapids, we will arrive to the end of the trip where we will have a nice lunch. Travel time to Cusco is 1 hour.
Notes, This section is difficult, if the river is to big to run we will run another section, this in order to prevent accident, the decision is 100 % up to the rafting guides.
