TAMBOPATA 9D/8N

Tambopata - Candamo is a natural reserve in the Peruvian Amazon Basin. It is considered one of the places with a lot of biodiversity around the planet.The authentic natural paradise is located between the regions of Madre de Dios and Puno in the southern Peruvian side

Itinerary

DAY 1 JULIACA AIRPORT-PUTINA PUNKU

After we will pick you Up form the airport or Bus terminal, The adventure begins overland, high into the Andes (15,700 feet, 4785 m), passing llama herds, glaciers and spectacular mountain ranges. We begin to descend through small Pre-Inca Sites Cuyo-Cuyo and so to the Amazon cloud forest. From here we drop deeper into the jungle and finally to San Juan de Loro-Putina Punku where will the begining of our rafting trip. We organise our expedition and we will have a safety briefing followed by practice in the river. Only once the passengers have a good working knowledge of the commands and of safety, Todays short day untill our first camp (B/L/D)

DAY 2-6

TAMBOPATA 9D/8NDuring the first days we still have small technical rapids class II and III after in the next days we will continue running rappids and step by step we will see more tributarys that will be incresing the volume of the Tambopata creating class IV rapids. Plenety of time there will be to take pictures of the rapids and the specatcular scenery around us. After all this exiting section of rapids the river relaxes, floating silently we´ll have the oportunities to observe wild life We hope to see Capibaras, mankies, macaws, tapirs, Caimans, giant otters, and a lot of variety of vegetation. Jaguar and anaconda it have been seen before in one of the trips as well as countless species os rare birds and batterflies. We also will have some time to explore a beautyfull side creks and if we can we will be able to have a delicios dinner with a fish that our guides will may cath on the river.

DAY 7

After an exciting days on the Jungle the river becomes flat and thus hard work. This will be our last camp on the river side.

DAY 8

Today we wake up early in the morning to see an extraordinary spectacle of hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets feasting on the minerals contained in the cliff wall, after we will meet our motor boat that we will transfers us to Puerto Maldonado. Here we can enjoy the luxuries of a refreshing shower, a comfortable bed, fresh food and cold beer.

DAY 9

After breakfast we take an airpline to Cusco o Lima depending itinerary of each person.

State of the art rafting equipment including self-bailing rafts, Hi-flotation life-jackets, helmets, paddle jackets, dry bags for personal gear, special containers for cameras. What to bring

Sleeping bag (may rent for $2.50 per day), inflatable mattress (may rent for $2.50 per day) torch/ flashlight, clothing: lightweight long trousers (for evening), shorts (obligatory in order to wear over wet-suit), fleece/thermal top, T-shirts, bathing suit, sandals, personal items: eco-friendly toiletries ie. bio-degradable (no place to wash except in the river, no pollutants please!!), hat, sun-block, insect repellent
