CUSCO ADVENTURE

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival ( Lima )

Arrival in Lima at any time of the day. Transfer from the airport to the hotel in Lima, here you are going to meet one of our assistance who will explain what to do in Lima, about flight and transfer itinerary for the next day. Overnight in Lima. No meals included

Day 2: Cusco

Transfer to the airport in our private van to catch a plain that will take us to Cusco. You need to have you cameras ready to take some pictures of the spectacular view of the Peruvian Andean Mountains. In Cuzco there will be a guide with a van who will be waiting for you at the airport, once there you will be transfer to the Hotel that is located in the City center. At the hotel your guide will give you some tips of what to do around. Cusco is located at 3350 meter sea level (10990 ft) so is recommended using this day to get adjusted to the altitude.

There are some half day tours that can be organized for you as the city tour or horseback riding; these activities are not included in the price.

At 7 pm there will be a briefing about your rafting trip, your guides will explain timing navigation system, what to take etc. Overnight in Cusco. Meals Included 1 breakfast.

Day 3-5: Rafting Apurimac

High in the outstanding Andean mountains from Cusco, endless in scenic wonders and countless of rapids this three day Apurimac River rafting begins.

 The Apurimac River is the source of the world´s largest River system, the Amazon River. This river flows northwest past Cusco in narrow gorges of up to 3000 meters twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in USA, in the way is interrupted by waterfalls, small tributaries, and hundreds of rapids that goes form level II to V.  The third day we will be back in Cusco. Overnight in Cusco. (3 breakfasts - 2 lunches - 2 dinners).

Day 6: Cusco

After these three fantastic days in the Apurimac river, you will have a day off so you can be ready for your next Cusco Adventure tour, The Inca Trail. 
Today we can organize for you a massage or shopping program, also we can book a nice lunch in one of the typical restaurants from Cusco. In the evening there will be a briefing about the Inca Trail tour and the Sacred Valley. Overnight in Cusco. (1 breakfast).

Day 7: Sacred Valley

We will pick you up from the hotel at 8 am and drive towards the Sacred Valley for a complete guided tour. Sacred Valley offers stunning Andean mountains views, winding roads and mind boggling Inca architecture. This Valley runs parallel to the Urubamba River or Wilkamayu River (Sacred River). The Incas loved the valley for many of the same reasons today’s tourists and local residents do, for its special natural beauty and geographical and climatic qualities. You will visit Ollantaytambo and Pisaq. 

The complex of Písac, lie on top of a hill at the entrance to the valley. The ruins are separated along the ridge into four groups: Pisaqa, Intihuatana, Qallaqasa and Kinchiracay. The Intihuatana (The Temple of the Sun), is the focus, suggest that it served as an astronomical function. Q'allaqasa, which is built onto a natural spur and overlooks the valley, is known as he citadel, after this tour you'll visit Pisaq market that is a wonderful open-air market where you can buy Peruvian handicrafts, clothing and some souvenirs. Traditional Peruvian attire is worn almost universally. In the way to Ollantaytambo you will pass through picturesque towns of La May, Qoya, Calca and you will stop at Urubamba, to have lunch in one of the best restaurants in town, here you can try different typical dishes from the area.  After lunch we drive for 30  minutes more until we arrive to Ollantaytambo.

Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacutec who conquered the region and built the town with many terraces, temples, store houses, quarries, bathes and defenses. At the time of the Spanish conquest Peru it served as a fortress for Manco Inca, leader of the Inca resistance.

The town on Ollantaytambo, is an Inca leaving city, the people owns many of the houses that was used in the past for our ancestors, today this people uses the same buildings. Overnight at Ollantaytambo. (1 breakfast - 1 lunch).

Day 8-11: Inca Trail or Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu.

The Inca Trail is one of the world's greatest adventures. During the Inca Empire, the trail served as a kind of royal highway, linking Cusco with Machu Picchu. This trail runs across mountain sides, through a tropical cloud forest and over long Inca stone stairs. It contains many buildings, including storage constructions, houses, temples and strategic observatories along the way. You will finish the trek in the citadel of Machu Picchu where our guide will guide you in a complete guided tour around the place. The fourth day we will go back to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco. (4 breakfasts - 3 lunches - 3 dinners).

Day 12: Lima

Transfer to airport and flight to Lima and then flight home. If your flight departures late in the evening, we can organize a city tour or give you some tips to shop, also we can arrange lunch in one of the best restaurants in Lima, where they serve the best meals in Peru, this will be the perfect end for your Cusco vacation tour. (1 breakfast).

What is included?

  • Meals Included: All breakfast, 6 lunch, 5 dinners. Peruvian Food is incredibly diverse. Each region and even some cities has their own specialties and dishes. In this tour we will make sure that you'll try the best of our food.
  • Accommodation: Our trip prices are based on double occupancy Hotel Rooms and Lodges. If you are travelling alone and wish to share, we will assign a same-sex roommate if one is available, but if for example there are 5 in the group and he/she does not have any one to share, we will pay the expenses to cover the hotel room price. If you wish to have your own room, you need to pay extra to cover the expenses of the room.
    All the accommodation facilities in this Cusco Adventure tour are excellent, safe and clean. The hotels hostels are very nice and they are always located near the Plaza of Armas of Cusco or any other small town that we will visit.

  • Sacred Valley tour: Local English speaking guide, transport, entrance fees.

What is not included?

Hotel and meals during the days that passengers want to stay in Cusco , or any of the other cities, instead of continuing on with the trips, meals on the first and the last day of the trip city tour in Cusco, sleeping mattresses and sleeping bags during rafting and biking trips (only sleeping bag in the trekking tours).

What to bring?

Weather can be different in Peru because the Andean mountains, we recommend to bring some warm clothes especially if you travel during May to September the early mornings and nights in Cusco and Puno can be very cold.

Any other items that you wish to pack are at your own discretion however you should attempt to comply with the suggested luggage weight limit.

  • Travel documents: passport, visas, travel insurance certificate, air tickets (with photocopies).
  • Any vaccination certificates required
  • Money: traveller's cheques/cash/credit or debit card, money belt
  • First-aid kit (should contain lip salve, aspirin, band Aids, anti-histamine, Imodium or similar tablets for mild cases of diarrhea, re-hydration powder, extra prescription drugs you may be taking).

Cusco Adventure tour notes

Important: You need to book this Cusco Vacations tour with at least four months in advance due to Inca trail regulation and availability, otherwise we have the Salkantay Trek as an alternative trip to Machu Picchu, which doesn't need to be book with so much time in advance.
