APURIMAC RAFTING 6D/5N
Briefing (night before departure): pre-departure information: description of river canyon, navigation, what to bring, etc.

Itinerary
DAY 1 CUSCO-NAYHUA-VALLEY CAMP
Our trip started at 8 am where we pick the passengers up from their hotels. This 4 hours bus ride take from Cusco to the Apurimac River. Pacariqtapu will be our first stop in the way, we buy some water fruit for the bus yerny, this place is the last sign of civilization. Continuing with our trip we arrive to the highest pass of the trip 3850 m. From here we star descending to the Apurimac river put in, passing mountain, small rivers and a lot of Andean villages , we arrive to Nayhua the beginning of our trip, here we have to walk to the river for about 15 minutes. Once everything is ready we have a safety briefing followed by a practice in the river, each passenger takes turns swimming in some moderate rapids so everybody can practice grabbing the safety kayak and also securing rescue lines. After this we will have 2 hours in the water running class II, III and IV rapids. Later in the evening there will be barbecue and wine sitting around the fire.
DAY 2 VALLEY CAMP-VALLE DE LAS ROCAS CAMP
We Wake up with a nice small to coffee and pure nature air. Today is long, while we are descending we can see the variety of birds, waterfalls, and technical rapids, with big granitic rocks. Today there will be 1 portage, rapid that is not runnable for clients. We have lunch in a nice beach under the shadow of a tree, we rest after lunch and we continue for a couple of hours running small rapids until our camp the cave. Today we have a little hike to a waterfall.
DAY 3 VALLE DE LAS ROCAS CAMP- CAMP
Today is also long day, we will be running class II, III and IV rapids. As we are going down the river, we can see more affluent going into the Apurimac River, the gorge is getting deeper and deeper, and the river geography changes. With more water in the river, there will be bigger rapids to run. We have lunch close to Walpachaca breach. In the afternoon there are many rapids still to run until we arrive to our camp.
DAY 4 PALTAS CAMP-DRAGON TAIL CAMP
Today´s begins with nice long rapids. Before we run the rapids each guide explain to the crew how to run it and where the safety kayak and the guides with the safety ropes are located. Scenery is amazing, big granitic rocks, cliffs and huge mountains. For safety reason passengers will have to walk around some rapids we call it Portages (class IV, V and VI rapids, non runnable). The place for lunch is beautiful and it is a good time to relax and rest. In the afternoon there will be more rapids class IV, before we arrive to our next camp, we will have an stop so we can collect fire wood for our camp site.
DAY 5 DRAGON TAIL CAMP-THE FACE CAMP
After a good breakfast we will star running class II III and IV rapids (Dragon Tale, Indiana Jones, 3 Marias, Evil´s Fork, and No Name rapids). The table is a nice place to stop and we will use it for Lunch. There after we continue with the trip until we arrive to our last 2 portages of the trip. After this everybody is tired, waiting to arrive to the camp, cold beer, food and wine.
DAY 6 THE FACE CAMP-QUINTA PRIMAVERA QUINTA
Last day in this amazing Apurimac Canyon, immediately after breakfast we will have one of the best rapids of the river (Babalua class V), here we organize the safety very well. We star running the level V very carefully, we run this rapid boat by boat. Just after running the class V is coming another rapid that clients likes it (The Last Laugh class IV). A series of class III, III+ rapids still to run until the last stop where we will have our Lunch and cold beer waiting for us.
Travel time back to Cusco is around 3 hours and we will finish at 5 pm.
After all this rafting experience we practically will be ready to run any other rivers in the world.
What's included
Meals: B, L, D, boat, guide safety kayak, safety boat, life jacket, wet-suit, helmet, paddle-jacket, paddle, all rafting and camping gear.
What's not Included
Sleeping bag, inflatable mattress, flash light, clothing (long trousers, shorts, fleece, t-shirts, bathing costume, sandals), personal items, sun block, insect repellent.
This tour can be combined with our trekking tours and 12 and 15 days trips or with Salkantay trek to Machupicchu.
