APURIMAC RAFTING - 3 DAYS
The Apurimac River is the source of the world´s largest River system, the Amazon River, it rises from glacial melt water of the ridge of nevado Mismi, at 5597 meters high mountain in Arequipa Province Southern Peru. In 1971 National Geographic expedition identified Nevado Mismi as the source of the Amazon River.
This river flows northwest past Cusco in narrow gorges of up to 3000 meters, twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in USA, in the way is interrupted by waterfalls, small tributaries, and hundreds of rapids.
High in the outstanding Andean mountains from Cusco, endless in scenic wonders and countless of rapids this three day Apurimac River rafting begins. Apurimac rafting trip is a once-in-a life time experience. You will escape completely on a worry free vacation with no stress no schedules where the time is still.
ENVIRONMENT
Most of our rafting tours are carefully design in order to provide safety and fun adventure tours. We care a lot about environment and we work every day in an effort to prevent pollution and contamination. To prevent pollution we have a good work system to maintain the river clean and safe for nature.
Garbage disposal: all inorganic matter is returned to Cusco, including all human waste (transported by means of cargo boat).
Fauna: River otter, fox, deer, condor, variety of birds and if you're really lucky: Puma!
Climate: Warm and arid it can get a little chilly in the evening during May to August.

All our rafting guides are certified in Swift water rescue and IRIA (special courses only for Rafting Guides).
Our guides are highly professionals with a lot of experience, they have been working in river around the world and especially they know very well the Apurimac River.
All our rafting gear are very good, the equipment we buy directly from NRS an American company that has a reputation for good quality rafting equipment.
WHAT TO BRING
Sleeping bag (may rent for $10.00 per trip), inflatable mattress (may rent for $10.00 per trip). Flashlight, clothing: lightweight long trousers (for evening), shorts (obligatory in order to wear over wet-suit), fleece/thermal top, T-shirts, bathing suit, sandals that covers the hole foot.
Personal items: eco-friendly toiletries i.e. Bio-degradable (no place to wash except in the river, no pollutants please!!)
Rafting Peru notes.
In Cusco there are only 7 Peru rafting companies who operate the Apurimac river, and just few follows the rafting precautions in order to minimize risks, if you want a safe trip ask about the criminal record of the company, experience of the guides, if they have accident in the river where you are going to raft and how many people they have per group. The maximum number of people aloud to have in the Apurimac River is 18, but there are some companies that take 24, 30, 36 and more.
Accidents happen in this kind of adventure trips, but if we follow rules we all can minimize risk of accidents.
